Meraki- Pre Grad Show
Nov 23, 2024
Meraki, the Pre-graduation fashion show at MITID, was my first real dive into the world of fashion photography—and it was nothing short of exhilarating. Until then, my lens had mostly focused on still moments, cityscapes, and candid frames. But this event introduced me to a new realm, where expression, style, and movement all came together in perfect sync. It was a space where every detail mattered—the flow of the fabric, the confidence in a model’s stride, the play of light and shadow on skin and textile.
This was also my first attempt at capturing portraits in a high-energy environment, where things were constantly in motion and there was barely a moment to pause. I had to adapt quickly, anticipating gestures, experimenting with angles, and making split-second decisions about composition and exposure. What excited me most was the challenge of finding emotion in an otherwise highly curated setting—capturing raw glances, soft smiles, and that split-second confidence just before a model walked the runway.
Through this experience, I discovered a new visual language, one that blends storytelling with style. It sparked a genuine interest in fashion and portrait photography, and I’m excited to explore it more deeply from here on.
